GSE mentions the Renewable Energy Community of Roero

GSE mentions CER of Roero in the July newsletter, citing it as one of the largest energy communities in Italy.

It is, in fact, a CER that unites 20 municipalities of Piedmont, specifically the territory of Roero, an area known for the production of wine, in the province of Cuneo. The participating institutions were able to translate their commitment to the environment by establishing a Renewable Energy Community, thanks to the technical support of Environment Park, through the project ALCOTRA RECROSSES, and the financial support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo, through the New Energies Call.

The REC was formed in May 2024, in the legal form of the recognized association, and covers a territory subtended to 8 primary cabins, for each of which a configuration will be activated. Citizens, SMEs, religious bodies, associations and public bodies belonging to this area will be able to join CER Roero in the future.

Here are the municipalities that today are part of it: Baldissero d’Alba, Bra, Canale, Castagnito, Castellinaldo d’Alba, Corneliano d’Alba, Guarene, Magliano Alfieri, Montà, Montaldo Roero, Monteu Roero, Piobesi d’Alba, Pocapaglia, Priocca, Santa Vittoria d’Alba, Santo Stefano Roero, Sommariva del Bosco, Sommariva Perno, Vezza d’Alba, Monticello d’Alba.

The CER Roero is one of those supported by the ALCOTRA RECROSSES project, through the technical support service provided by the Italian One Stop Shop. The overall project plans to support a total of 30 CERs, 15 in Italy and 15 in France, with the aim of contributing to the decarbonisation of the territory.
