On 18 of March 2024 took place in Turin the third stage of the Giro d’Italia to discover the Renewable Energy Communities (REC) , an event organized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security together with GSE (Energy Services Manager) and Unioncamere – Italian Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture.
The aim of the event was to facilitate the understanding of opportunities for businesses, local authorities, communities and citizens who decide to join a REC. There were several interventions about the role of the Energy Communities in the energy transition, including that of the Head of Self-consumption and Energy Community of GSE, David Joseph, Director General Dintec s.c.r.l. Antonio Romeo, by Don Michele Porcelluzzi of the Office of Legal Problems of the CEI, the Director of Environment, Energy, Piedmont Region Stefania Crotta, Responsible for initiatives in the field of energy of Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation Claudia Traina and the Director of the Area Development and Regulation of the Market of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin Guido Cerrato.
The event has been an opportunity to present the two European projects, GASLESS, co-financed by the LIFE programme and RECROSSES, co-financed by the ALCOTRA Interreg 2021-2027 programme.
